Counseling can benefit anyone who is struggling with a problem or looking to improve their mental health and well-being. If you are struggling with a mental illness, experiencing a life transition, feeling stressed or burnt out, or looking for guidance and growth, counseling is a great fit for you. 

During your first session, we will gather basic information about you as well as specific information about your current stressors and strengths. We will also review the intake paperwork. The first session is typically an hour and a half in length. After the initial appointment, we will work together to determine your specific treatment needs. Because everyone is different, therapy will be different for everyone. 

This is based on your specific needs. Some issues can be resolved in a shorter time frame such as a few months while some clients require long-term treatment.

Yes, what you say in counseling is confidential. Confidential information will only be shared with the client's written permission. The exceptions are if the client is at imminent risk of harm to themselves or others, reports of abuse or neglect to a child, elder, or person with a disability, or if ordered by the court.
